RAKKE, a piece performed by mother and son. ”RAKKE” is a West Flemish (West Vlaams) word meaning “quarrel.” This piece is inspired by (our) family conflicts and the complex emotions they bring such as shame, pride, frustration, anger and loss of control. Fights between parents and children have many layers, and by exploring them, we found a lot of inspiration. We noticed recurring patterns and asked ourselves: What sparks a fight? What is feeding the fight? How does it eventually resolve? These emotions are the foundation of our work, shaping the piece into our own personal story.
